Hey there! I’m Joshua Mata

I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Ontario, and I provide both in-person therapy and online counselling and psychotherapy for anxiety, depression, burnout and stress.

Every person is on a journey of continual change. Maybe you’re facing a challenging situation, or life’s burdens have taken its toll, or you’re simply trying to find your way. If that’s you, perhaps you may have noticed how we often lose ourselves in our problems, our thoughts and emotions, and the people and situations we encounter.

This is not necessarily a problem in and of itself, but if left unchecked we can easily lose sight of who we are, what we value, and what life is even about. We can become isolated and turn into ‘human doings’ rather than ‘human beings.’

If any of this resonates with you, I want you to know that you are more than your mistakes, your struggles, your wounds, or whatever it is that burdens you. Because it is my hope that people live fully authentic lives, embracing the fact that they are a ‘work-in-progress’ and that they don’t need to get all their ‘crap’ together in order to live life now.

Services

In-Person Therapy

I offer individual counselling and psychotherapy to adults (aged 18+) for treating thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. My flexible approach combines multiple therapy models and techniques to create a personalized treatment plan for each client.

My eclectic approach uses a combination of Internal Family Systems, Cognitive-Behaviural, and Dialectical-Behavioural therapies, as well as Mindfulness exercises. These can be effective for treating a diverse range of issues, but my eclectic approach is especially useful for issues and symptoms associated with mood disorders (e.g., anxiety, depression, obsession, sleep issues), trauma, hopelessness, burnout, stress, life transitions, and family of origin issues.

Online Teletherapy (Individual)

Teletherapy is when psychotherapy is provided through digital means. My services provide video therapy over the internet through a secure web platform that is accessible on any device with an internet browser, including desktops, mobile phones, and tablets.

Online services allows clients to receive counselling and psychotherapy from the comfort of their own homes. It is increasingly popular for its flexibility and convenience, especially among people with busy schedules or with limited access to in-person services.
